DIY Pinecone Decor For The Holidays

diy-pinecone-decor

There is something about a pinecone that makes me think about the holidays.  Maybe it’s because we so many of them during the holiday season.  From Fall decor all the way past Christmas, the pinecone seems to take center stage.

That is a good thing for me because I like to collect them and use pinecones in a variety of projects anyway.  Today, however, I am going to focus on the holidays.  There are so many craft projects and decorating ideas, using pinecones, for the holiday season.

One that I like to use for Thanksgiving dinner or really any special dinner in the Fall or Winter is my pinecone placecard holder.

It’s simply a matter of adding a little silver metallic paint to the edges of the pinecone and then wrapping it with silver floral wire and extending the wire to the top with a loop for holding a placecard.  You can see this idea and more at my post Place Card Holders You Can Make For Your Thanksgiving Table.

I have also used mini pinecones to make a rustic Christmas tree.

I used a styrofoam base to adhere the small pinecones to with hot glue.  I then inserted red berry picks throughout to add a touch of color and to fill any empty spaces.  For this full tutorial, go to Christmas Tree Craft.

I have also seen similar ideas for pinecone tree topiaries.

What I really like about this particular design is that she uses just the pinecone petals.  It is more time consuming but creates a nice look.  You can find this tutorial at Sweet Something Designs.

The trees and topiaries can be set out all Fall and Winter season or can be decorated specifically for the Christmas holiday like my pinecone tree.

This pinecone garland is another versatile diy project than can be used over and over again.

I would use this to line a mantel or shelf in the Fall and then wrap around a tree during Christmas.  See how to make this at Two Shades Of Pink.

Simply setting out pinecones with or without paint is an easy and decorative idea too.

I love the addition of white paint for a Winter display.  I have also seen colored paint to go with a certain room or season and metallic or glitter paints for added sparkle.

Here is an idea for putting really anything on branches for a unique centerpiece.  I love the pinecone idea!

Candles and holidays go hand in hand so this next easy craft idea is perfect.
