Cabin Bathroom Decor

Our cabin is full of inexpensive and unique decorating ideas.  The bathrooms are no exception. I wrote an earlier post on homemade cabin bathroom decor which showed many of the ideas that we had incorporated into our main level bathroom. We have now finished our lower level bathroom and I am ready to share some of these ideas with you as well.

Bathroom Sink

I had the most fun with the bathroom sink and sink cabinet. Instead of going with normal cabinetry, I wanted to incorporate something a little different.

One of my favorite places to shop for old furniture pieces is at the Salvation Army store. And, once again, the store did not fail me. I found an old desk that I thought would make a perfect bathroom sink vanity. It had drawers on each side and the open middle was perfect for cutting a hole through for the sink piping. It was just what I needed for our rustic cabin bathroom decor.

I love the look of vessel sinks and found a basic inexpensive one at the Home Depot that would go well with the style of the dresser. The whole look is somewhat vintage and perfect for our rustic cabin.

The ladder for the towels is actually temporary as we are going to be making one from logs. In fact, our next cabin bathroom decor project will be that ladder. For now we are using an old ladder from a set of bunk beds.

Stained Concrete

Instead of laying down tile or linoleum in our basement bathroom, we opted to stain the existing concrete instead. We did this right away during the building process so the concrete was at it’s cleanest. The stain gave kind of a mottled rust color with lots of variations like what you would find in a tile. I am very happy with the warm color.

DIY Wall Art

For pictures, we found some great old frames at a thrift store that we just switched out the pictures for our own prints. All of our towel racks, toilet paper holders and magazine racks came from Ikea at a fraction of the cost of other stores!

  1. I will have to consider that Tee! I may be ready for an update in ten years 🙂

  2. Great job! 10 years from now consider using corrugated tin on 1 or more walls. I think it’d go great with your shower. A friend of mine is planning on this concept. She’s trying to figure out how to incorporate a metal bucket for her shower head. I suggested a minnow pail. We’ll see if she goes for it, lol.

  3. I really like the stained concrete idea for the flooring. It will last forever!
