Decorating With White In A Rustic Shabby Chic Bedroom

It seems like the bedroom is one of those last places in a house to get decorated. Probably because it is so easy to just close the door and keep it shut off from visitors eyes. However a bedroom, especially the master bedroom, should be a place of sanctuary after a hard day’s work. You want your space to be inviting and feel somewhat luxurious to really pamper yourself. I’ll show you how decorating with white is particularly soothing and creates simple shabby chic.

Knowing how to decorate a bedroom can be a challenge. Typically you are looking at a small square room that doesn’t look too inspiring to start out with. There is a lot you can do though with paint, trim, furniture, lighting and accessories to really transform a space from bland to beautiful.

It often helps to have a little inspiration too so I came up with a collection of beautiful bedroom designs in a shabby chic decor style. Check out all of the aspects of the room, including color and textures and see how you can re-create a design that you like in your own home. You’ll see that decorating with white is both clean and chic.

There is so much I like about this bedroom! First off is all of the white. It maybe isn’t a color that you would think of to use right off but doesn’t it look fresh and serene! What really makes it work are all of the other elements. The distressed rustic wood doors as a headboard provide a perfect contrast to the clean white, as well as the dark wood floors and the fun little rustic accent chair. Now add the chic chandelier and the textured pillows and you have a perfectly shabby chic bedroom that would be a delight to come home to.

Wood Beams And White Walls

Here is another great example of using white but with just a little touch of color in the bedding. Again, there is a distressed wooden element used for the headboard, this time a shelf. The wooden beams provide the best contrast and again there is a wood floor. I love the relaxed look.

Tan And White

This next bedroom uses just two neutral colors, tan and white, but a whole lot of texture for added interest. The picture proves that you can put just about anything up on a wall and have it look chic, with the right layering.

I’m not sure which part of this bedroom I like the best! I am loving the old tub at the foot of the bed. What a unique idea for holding extra blankets and pillows. The rustic headboard is super cool and really so simple with just lining up old planks of wood. They don’t even have to be the same size! And, the sparkling chandelier is perfect against all of the rustic touches.

So what do you think of all of the white? Do you like the contrast it gives with the rustic touches? Let me know what you think!

  2. Thanks Becky! I’m always on the search for finds like those too! It seems that the little resale type shops have some gems now and then that are usually priced better than antique stores.

  3. Great inspiration! This is the palette I would like to redo our living room in. So bright and clean looking without being overpowering. Loving that distressed shelf above the bed and the old tub at the foot of the bed! Now if I could just score some finds like that…
