Shabby Chic Pillow Ideas
Throw pillows are one of the most versatile decorating accessories and can also be very easy to make. The only trouble that you can run in to is coming up with some fresh new ideas.
I have had a lot of fun with different styles of pillows in the past. From making pillows from old sweaters, to transferring a favorite magazine page to pillow form, to stencil painting, I have tried several different methods.
Lately, however, I have been seeing such fun shabby chic style pillows in the stores. Most of the time I don’t purchase them because I feel that I can make something similar for a fraction of the cost. I did pick up a couple of French and mill inspired pillows for deals too good to pass up. But, I want to start making some of the other fun designs that I have been seeing.
I noticed that many of the pillows that I liked had some sort of shabby fabric flower on them in a fun fabric. So….before I go any further, I thought I should include a tutorial for making these flowers since this would be a great technique to know how to do. I found a real easy tutorial by Create and Delegate here. And, this is what the flowers look like:
So, I have a couple of ideas in my head for pillows that I will be trying but I also did a search for some other inspiring pillow ideas and this is what I found:
I love this one! It has just the right amount of shabby, with the burlap, to go with the chic white fabric flowers.
Burlap and Blue takes the flower idea and really blossoms it! The entire pillow front is full of beautiful linen petals. Check out her easy tutorial to make this one yourself.
Here is another fun and easy pillow tutorial by The House Of Smiths.
For something different than flowers, here is a fun image transfer technique using Citrasolv. Faith and Home transferred this image onto an inexpensive muslin to make this! Check out the tutorial for this pillow idea.
This pillow idea looks like it would be easy and fun to make with a number stamp or stencil. I love the striped fabrics!
