Spring is in the air and so are the birds! This is the time of the year when I like to use bird houses in my decor. There are lots of different ways to make bird houses or decorate pre-made unfinished types.
The easiest way may be to decorate an unfinished wooden bird house that you can buy from a craft store. Depending on the way that you decide to embellish it, there are countless possibilities for design.
I used an antique license plate to decorate the roof of this first bird house. Then I just used coordinating paint colors and some stones and branches to finish it off.
You could decorate this same bird house with bottle caps for the roof, brighter paint colors and metal accents for a completely different look.
My favorite bird house to make would be my birch log bird houses:
Here are some more ideas that I have found that will be perfect for this Spring:
I love the idea of using candlesticks to make pedestal birdhouses! These look so shabby chic! This idea comes from The Speckled Dog.
You can make a lot of things with book pages and a bird house is just one more of those things! I love this idea by Red Hen Home.
Another popular, free item, to use in craft projects is pallets. These bird house by Backwoods Home are made from sections of pallets that you can usually pick up for free from local businesses.
Here is a unique idea by Studio G Blog. An old plant bucket is transformed into a beautiful birdhouse.
A post on birdhouses would not be complete without at least one made from a gourd. I love the uniqueness of this one made by Gourds Galore and More with the thatched roof and berry dye.
Happy Spring and Happy Crafting!
